Amazon FBA How to package and ship Sports & Outdoors items



The item I am selling is specifically in the following category on Amazon

Sports & Outdoors›Outdoor Recreation›Camping & Hiking›Camp Kitchen

Amazon has a PDF guide on how to package the items

Essentially the guide says to put everything in Poly bags (unless an item is fragile or dangerous)

The bag requirements are

Thickness 1.5 mil minimum
Bags greater then 5" need a visible suffocation warning
Barcodes need to be scan able without opening the package

Also the item must be labeled

The label Requirements

There are options
1. You can use existing bar code
2. Put the Amazon Label bar code on top of bar code
3. Let Amazon label it

The best way to manage labels on Amazon is to put the Amazon label over the original UPC. These labels are not supposed to be printed with an inkjet printer. This was a another set back for me as I don't have the recommended Laser printer. You can also use a Thermal Printer, but i'm going to go ahead and go with the more common laser printer. Apparently you can get free shipping labels from UPS. Going to have to see if this is true. Update 1: You can get supplies from UPS for Free: Many different labels. So far it looks like I can get thermal labels possibly for bar codes but not laser printer labels for bar codes. They also offer boxes, bags and envelops for free. Update 2: Found this guy interesting, dumpster diving for shipping supplies. Update 3: Since UPS gives free thermal labels and people are saying how great they are because you don't need toner and you can print labels 1 at a time, I decided to get the Thermal Printer.

Extra requirements Day 2 Amazon FBA

I now have a bunch of books and CD's to sell on Amazon. So the next step would be to find the best way to sell them. I could ship them all to Amazon, I could ship them to each buyer when I receive a purchase on amazon or I could even sell them elsewhere if need be. But in reality nothing is ever simple especially for the first time. I will have to do my research on how to get my items out the door but first I remembered I still need to finish setting up my account. Today after vacuuming the house, getting the dishes done, cleaning printer heads by hand and every other little thing that could happen in ones life I got around to the next step in this Amazon FBA process.
