First Shipment Part Two Packing for Amazon
First when trying to ship to amazon that made things difficult was not know what box size to have on hand or if I could reuse a Walmart box. So I went through the shipping process on the Amazon sellers website. I was sending in 49 items. They decided to split that into 3 shipments, two in the same State. The whole thing seems ridiculous. But I went on and packed all of my items into different size boxes. Even had to resize one the best I could. Once done I weighed each one and measured them. Each shipment cost around five dollars. With Amazon already charger massive fees for selling on their platform I found this ridiculous. Especially since one of my boxes was 1lb and they were charging as if it was 5lb and another box was 5lb and the charge was set to 29lb. The shire thing was complete insanity to me, but I trudged on.
I had a larger box that would fit everything into it. So, I calculated the size and the weight. I did an estimate for UPS which came out to around $10.00 which I still found high considering this is Amazon and it should be discounted shipping especially when the box is only going one state over. Finally when selecting FedEx I saw that my entire shipment would be $6.94.
So the next step was to set up my account so I would only need to ship one box. But then I find out they actually charge you for every item you ship in when this is applied. Although before I found this information out I had deleted my prior shipments. This forces you to go back to the begging of the adding inventory process. So now I had to go back re add all the quantities and then go through the process again. This time the boxes were configured slightly differently. One or two items moved in each box. So I had to redo my packing on each box. I feel as there must be ways around this, possibly removing one shipment i'm not sure. For now its a learning process.
Next step actually getting the package to Fedex or UPS.
